December 16, 2025 – Fifth graders at Sunset Mesa stepped back in time during Colonial Day, an immersive experience that blends history, tradition, and hands-on learning.
Students arrived dressed in colonial attire and gathered for a formal tea held in a beautifully transformed library setting. Before the meal began, they participated in an etiquette lesson—learning everything from proper table settings to how to begin a meal respectfully, led by a designated “head of the table.”
The day’s highlight came with a powerful live performance of Patrick Henry’s famous “Give me liberty or give me death” speech, delivered by a professional reenactor who has been part of this tradition for years. His presentation brought the lesson to life in a memorable and impactful way.
From manners to meaningful moments in history, Colonial Day offers students a unique opportunity to experience the past in a way that is both engaging and unforgettable.
