February 7, 2026 – There’s something special happening each month at Sunset Mesa—one page at a time. Students in grades 3–5 visit preschool classrooms to share stories, laughter, and a love of reading. Held once or twice each month, these visits have become a highlight for both older and younger students.
This year, Book Buddies has continued to grow as a meaningful part of campus life. Older students step into leadership roles as they read aloud, helping guide and engage their younger peers.

Preschool students build early literacy skills and form connections with their “big buddies.”
Over the course of the year, these moments—turning pages together, asking questions, and sharing stories—have created lasting impressions on both groups.
Book Buddies remains a simple but powerful tradition at Sunset Mesa, strengthening the school community and fostering a lifelong love of reading.
