November 11, 2025 – More than 100 veterans were honored at Sunset Mesa’s Veterans Day Celebration this year, as students, families, and community members gathered for one of the school’s most meaningful events—an annual tradition that continues to grow each year.

The ceremony opened with the choir leading the national anthem, followed by fourth and fifth grade students performing the songs of each military branch—including the Space Force. As each song was sung, veterans stood to be recognized, creating a powerful moment as generations connected across the room.

Veterans are invited to attend through Sunset Mesa families, who submit the names of relatives and friends who have served. Each veteran in attendance was then invited to the stage individually, where they were presented with a flag pin and recognized by name. As part of the ceremony, they placed a gold star on a display flag, leaving a visible tribute to their service.

This year’s event welcomed a large crowd, with hundreds of chairs set up to accommodate families and guests. Following the ceremony, attendees stayed for a community breakfast, giving students the opportunity to visit with veterans and hear their stories firsthand.

It was a moving and memorable morning—one that continues to reflect the deep appreciation Sunset Mesa has for those who have served.
